On behalf of the Rixmann Family and the LivINN Hotels and Pawn America family businesses, we are asking for your help in supporting the upcoming 12th annual Heart of the City Race on September 9, 2023 in Burnsville, MN. All proceeds from this event are donated to the Boys & Girls Club Kids Feeding Kids Program. The demand this year is event greater and we hope you will consider donating to help us reach our goal of $80,000!

Kids Feeding Kids Program

In 2006, Brad Rixmann approached the leaders of the Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities to discuss the Kids Feeding Kids (KFK) initiative. Many club kids were not eating nutritious meals during the evenings after school.

The KFK program provides club kids a free, nutritious, family-style meal every weeknight and on school release days. The overarching goal of the KFK program is to ensure that the participating children receive the essential nutrients and nutritional education to grow into healthy and productive members of society. The KFK kitchens in Minnesota based clubs continue to serve more than 150,000 nutritional meals a year!

Kids Feeding Kids Strategy

Our healthy lifestyles strategy develops young people's capacity to live healthfully by educating youth about fitness, nutrition and smart decisions. Activities focus on instilling positive conflict resolution  techniques, engaging in positive behaviors, setting personal goals and building resistance skills that nurture and strengthen their minds and bodies.

Why donate to the Heart of the City?

"This is our 7th year participating and it’s such a great cause. I’m a mom and it just breaks my heart for kids that don’t have food, so it means a lot for us to participate in this event.”

-Tammy, Kraus Anderson

“It’s great to be able to support such a fun event. I love to run and being able to give back to the community while doing something I love; is such a cool feeling.”

– Race supporter

“The couple kids I deal with they have that same issue at home they don’t always get to eat so the fact that they are raising money for kids to be able to eat. I like that.”
