On July 15, 2019, Eric Tadt will embark on the race of a lifetime: the 135 mile Badwater Ultramarathon in Death Valley, CA.  He is racing to raise awareness and dollars for a special program by Good in the 'Hood in the Twin Cities, call Shoe Away Hunger.  His goal is to collect 135 pairs of shoes to support children in need with back to school shoes.

We all recognize the importance of having a good pair of shoes.  Eric can attest to this, as he has used 77 pairs of shoes and run over 23,000 miles since 2011!  That is nearly 10 pairs of shoes each year!

We would truly appreciate your support at the Badwater Ultramarathon by donating to Good in the 'Hood.  100% of your donations go directly to Shoe Away Hunger.

Lastly, Eric wanted to share a few parts from his application for the Badwater 135, so you can get a glimpse into why this race means so much to him:

Why do you want to compete in the Badwater 135 Ultramarathon?

"Badwater 135 has been a life goal since I trained for my first 50 miler in 2008.  I tested myself with elevation, endurance, and speed at 25 ultramarathons, but I am ready to attempt what many see as impossible.  As a 2x Badwater crew member, I was hooked by history behind the event and the opportunity to become part of the Badwater family.  I see Badwater as the ultimate challenge, and an opportunity to put everything on the line to realize a life dream.  Unless you are intensely challenged, you are not growing – and I am ready to grow."

What does "Badwater" mean to you?  What does it stand for?

"Badwater is a dream, ideal, ambition that represents the pinnacle of personal achievement.   Badwater is an idea bigger than just me.   It is a lifestyle focusing on family and sacrifice to become the best version of you.  It would be an honor to become part of the Badwater family."

Why are you on this planet?

"I’m here to live a full, healthy life where I pursue and achieve my dreams, no matter how extreme.  I battle genetic rheumatoid arthritis and have overcome multiple spontaneous pneumothoraces, but don’t let either obstruct my aspirations. I live to inspire and support others in pursuit of their dreams."
