People Serving People is the largest and most comprehensive family shelter in Minnesota. People Serving People envisions a community where all children have the stability and support they need to thrive, where all families have a safe place to call home, and where racist roots of homelessness are lifted.
For Give to the Max Day 2021, we are asking for you to give warmth. To ensure that every family feels the warmth that safety, support, and stability provides, it will take the whole community.
Over the last two months, the number of nightly guests staying with People Serving People has doubled. With the lifting of the eviction moratorium and colder weather, warm shelter is needed for over 200 family members a night. In all of the chaos our guests and community have experienced over the last two years, a warm place full of acceptance and encouragement is essential.
What does it mean to give warmth today? Your gift, in whatever amount is meaningful to you, will be combined with other community gifts to provide the following:
- A soft bed and inviting private room where families can rest, heal, and gather for the next steps in their journeys to stability.
- Hot, nutritious, culturally relevant meals that may be the end of periods of food scarcity.
- Comforting, supportive classrooms that encourage kids to express their emotions and thrive with trauma-informed, anti-racist curriculum.
- Compassionate care that empowers families to identify their own goals and work towards dynamic futures.
- Fierce advocacy in ending the racist and sexist roots of homelessness through partnerships and education.
Thank you for being part of our extended family as we gather in the warmth of our community today!
