We RISE Together.

2020—a year of grief and hope, rage and joy, injustice and resilience.

The past several months have brought waves of change and challenges. The compounding effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Black Lives Matter uprising, and the unfolding election cycle continue to overwhelm our communities.

At the Sisterhood, we’re holding onto the belief that has kept us afloat for the past five years—Muslim women are the greatest assets in our communities. Muslim women exist at the intersection of Islamophobia, racism, and sexism—and for that reason, we are the ones to live and breathe into a new reality.

At the outbreak of the pandemic, Muslim women stepped up to care for the sick, offer mental health support, and ensure that our most vulnerable are provided for. After the murder of George Floyd, some of us took to the streets to protest state-sanctioned violence and white supremacy, while many organized mutual aid to support our friends and neighbors. In the midst of the most consequential election of our lives, we not only voted but also phone banked, served as election judges, worked on campaigns and ran for office.

In this season of grief, rage, and injustice, Muslim women are hope, joy, and resilience. We’ve been doing the work for years, and we’re not about to stop now. Alongside our sisters and our allies standing with us in solidarity, we’re ready to RISE together.

Reviving Sisterhood is on a mission to amplify the voice and power of Muslim women. Through storytelling, leadership development and civic engagement, we are building a movement. We imagine a future where all Muslim women are connected, reflected, celebrated and emboldened.

As we look back on the past year and forward to the next season, we’re reminded of how much we need each other in order to reclaim our power and our narrative. We need both our Muslim sisters and our loved ones of other faiths/no faith.

Throughout the next several months, we’ll be mobilizing our sisterhood to show up in civic spaces and create systemic change. We’ll be equipping Muslim women with the skills that they need to take on positions of power. We’ll be sharing stories of changemakers and trailblazers to inspire our sisters as they work toward a world of hope, joy, and resilience.

Support the Sisterhood, and we will RISE together.
