Majestic Hills Ranch (MHR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that provides reputable, safe, and enjoyable therapeutic riding to children and young adults with special needs and injured military personnel, active duty & veterans in rehabilitation.
Therapeutic horseback riding and adaptive horseback riding lessons grants individuals the ability to participate in an activity that anyone can do. They are taken to the world where everyone can do the tasks and that they can look down upon the adults that normally tower above them. They gain strength from riding the horse’s rhythmical walk and gain balance when staying on while it is bending and turning. They gain self confidence when learning how to control the movement of this large animal and fine motor skill when steering and playing games with the other riders. They bond with their horse, make friends with the community volunteers that help with the program, and generally enjoy the great outdoors at the ranch.
Grants and donations provide just over half of our revenue for the yearly budget. We have few paid employees for the ranch, and all else is done by volunteers. While the program can only provide services for 6 months out of the year because of our lack of indoor arena, the horses live at the ranch all year and always need to be cared for. Fundraising helps us gain enough funds to be able to provide for our horses – ensuring that we have enough hay, grain, vet and farrier work for all of the program horses and petting zoo animals.
