Today is Give to the Max Day!
This year, please consider donating to the Karen Organization of Minnesota to help us continue to support refugees who are disproportionally affected by COVID-19.
As we know, this year has been full of many challenges, but we have done our best to respond to the ever-changing needs.
Our 2020 Updates:
In March, as all our services became remote, we put together an on-call schedule to respond to the community's immediate needs. Averaging over 100 calls a week, our staff helped clients apply for unemployment benefits, navigate healthcare insurance, apply for county benefits, and much more.
Our programs adapted with our staff working tirelessly to check in with their individual clients, students, and families online. Ta Da, one of our Community Health Educators, adapted the Karen Chemical Dependency Collaborative program by hosting support group meetings online several times per week.
Other than our existing programs, we also worked with partners to provide translated COVID-19 information in Karen language, and organize community testing events. In August, KOM performed over 5,000 free COVID tests in partnership with M Health Fairview and other agencies. Join Us!
Although 2020 is nearing an end, the work is far from over.
We are excited to announce that your donation today will be MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR up to $7,500 by our sponsors as part of our 2020 Virtual Fundraiser: Stronger Together!
As part of our Stronger Together fundraiser, we are hosting an online event on Thursday, December 3rd, 12pm - 1pm. Join us to hear more about what KOM has been doing this year, and to hear directly from our clients.

Let's stay connected as we are all Stronger Together!
