Metro Deaf School has always sought to provide our students with access to excellent education so that they can grow to become successful global citizens. This includes the use of technology that supports the education of our Deaf and DeafBlind students, as well as students with additional disabilities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, access to education has proven to be a challenge. This is especially true for our DeafBlind students as well as students with additional disabilities. Despite the difficulty, MDS is up for the challenge! We want to ensure that all our students have access to education, whether from home or in the classroom, so that students can learn and be safe while we weather the COVID-19 storm.

DeafBlind Setup for Home or Classroom during COVID-19:
iPad is used for direct communication with DeafBlind Intervener, TV is used to access Zoom Meetings with teacher and students, Chromebook used to access curriculum and work on projects.

Intervener Setup:
iPad for direct communication with DeafBlind Student, 2 computers (one for Zoom Meetings and the second for access to curriculum and other resources during Zoom meetings), TV for larger view of screens if needed, whiteboard for drawing and explaining to DeafBlind student
