When I began as an intern at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in 1978, my first responsibility was editing the plan for the Heartland State Trail (near Walker, MN https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_trails/heartland/index.html). I had a chance to ride the trail a few years ago and it was incredible to se how my work as an intern (soils mapping, content editing and graphic presentation) played a part in a creating a beautiful multi-purpose recreational trail. (Hence, the picture of me for this page.)
Internships aren’t just a foot in the door – they help establish a foundation of work experiences and networks that launch a career. It's why these decades later, I am always eager and excited to connect with students to support their journey into the professional workforce.
Freshwater has a wonderful history of supporting students with internship opportunities that help them to build their skills and produce meaningful work experiences. Read about these internships on Freshwater's Give to the Max home page https://www.givemn.org/organization/Freshwater-Society. Your donation will help us pay it forward for the next generation of water experts.
Will you please help me reach my goal? It will help us support our future Freshwater workforce! Thank you for your generosity.
