Who We Are
Denfeld Nation Automation (DNA) Robotics is FIRST Robotics Competition Team 4009 from Denfeld High School in Duluth, Minnesota.
We’re a varsity-level FRC team with a big goal:
Our mission is to provide life-changing experiences for students and transform our community culture by showing that engineering, innovation, and creativity can be as exciting and rewarding as traditional sports.
Since 2012, DNA Robotics has grown from 9 students and 2 mentors to an internationally recognized team of 25 students and 12 mentors with a winning history of competition, innovation, and impact.
Why your support matters
When you donate to DNA Robotics, you’re investing in more than robots — you’re investing in the futures of high school students.
Your donation helps fund:
- Robot parts, tools, and safety equipment
- Registration fees and travel to regional, state and international competitions
- Expansion of our technical and business programs
- Community STEM outreach programs
DNA Robotics operates like a small business. Students lead our build sub-team to develop skills in engineering, CAD, coding and more. Every dollar raised is managed by students on our business sub-team, who learn budgeting, marketing, communications and project management.
What makes DNA Robotics special?
Award-Winning Legacy: DNA has consistently been recognized for excellence in both engineering and outreach. Our team has won many awards in our 14 seasons of competition.
Minnesota State High School League: DNA Robotics has qualified for the MSHSL State Robotics Tournament 8 times since the team began competing in 2012. The team most recently participated in 2025.
Global Recognition: In 2025, DNA competed at the FIRST World Championship in Houston, winning 7 of 10 matches against top teams from around the globe. This was the team’s 4th time qualifying for the most elite competition in FIRST Robotics.
Student-Driven: Denfeld Nation Automation is 100% student-led and mentor-supported. Every bit of success begins and ends with students learning, building, and leading.
Year-Round Engagement: Denfeld's Robotics team members don’t stop when the season ends. Students on the team learn advanced fabrication, programming, and project management year-round, while also connecting with the Duluth community through local outreach events.
Real Impact, Real Growth: DNA is more than a robotics team. It's a launchpad for future engineers, programmers, designers, and leaders. Students gain confidence, career-ready skills, and a lifelong appreciation for STEM and teamwork.
