The COVID-19 pandemic has upended seemingly everything—our routines, our livelihoods, our sense of security. But, this pandemic has reaffirmed our core conviction in the power of community service—the power of us, coming together during a time of crisis. Whether it’s through service, through donations, through selfless acts, we believe our communities will rise to meet this moment, as well as what comes next.

That’s why ServeMinnesota is launching the COVID Emergency Response Initiative.

We’re working with national, state, and local partners to deploy more than 200 service members to where they’re needed most. Starting in June, AmeriCorps members will serve public health agencies in Two Harbors, food shelves in Moorhead, temporary homeless shelters in Minneapolis, and many more communities across Minnesota, all with one goal: to activate the power of community service against the challenges brought by COVID-19.

We’re ready to lead this critical initiative, but we need your help. While federal resources enable us to quickly train and deploy service members, we need the support of individuals like you to keep ServeMinnesota’s innovative engine running. As you know, this crisis changes every single day. In order for our service members to stay ahead of this pandemic, we need to continue to learn, evaluate, and improve our response.

During #GiveAtHomeMN, we’ve set a goal to raise $25,000 to support our COVID-19 response efforts.

These vital dollars enable ServeMinnesota to continue sharpening statewide efforts now, as well as to develop a series of contingency plans for the fall and beyond. Your dollars will improve our ability to address the pandemic immediately, but also adapt our existing programs like Reading Corps, Math Corps, and Recovery Corps, to play critical roles in our long-term response to COVID-19.
