Shelters are great for giving homeless youth a safe place to go from the streets, but in order to really overcome homelessness and all the struggles that come with it, they need more than a short term solution. Permanent supportive housing programs for youth, like  Lindquist Apartments (the Link program that I work for) give these kids the stability and long-term support they need to fully transition out of homelessness and make progress on their goals. Many youth at Lindquist Apartments have been homeless for years, many have never had stable housing, and for most, their studio apartment at Lindquist is their first stable home. Donations to Lindquist help provide each youth with necessary household items for their new home including bedding, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, dish soap, dish racks, towels, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, bathmats, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and other household essentials.
