The Cherry Pit has been hosting open jams, community shows, and group conversations for over six years.
The time has come to launch a new event series! Our weekly open jam will continue, and so will the āConversation Pit,ā but we want to bring back the Traveling House Shows that were our foundation! We propose to you: UNRELEASED.
WHY DO WE NEED $8,250?????
$2,450 pays local musicians
-Three excellent bands
$1,410 pays local visual artists
-Photographer, videographer, two live painters
$3,210 pays the Cherry Pit team
-Music director, art director, sound engineer, event producer, manger, and helpers
$500 pays for space rental
- Event location is a secret... for now
$300 pays for materials
- Space design, set building, decor
$380 pays event helpers
- Door workers, set up, tear down
Unreleased will be a quarterly concert and showcase series. Each show features small local acts, Cherry Pit regulars and notable local names. This event creates a pipeline for the up-and-coming artists who frequent our weekly jam sessions and puts them in spaces alongside more experienced career artists, providing inspiration and mentorship. The catch? They will only be playing Unreleased Music.
We want to create a foundry, a testing ground for experimentation, where musicians bring forth their unfinished ideas. No phones or screens will be allowed in this environment, encouraging attendees to embrace the ephemerality of unreleased music and in-person interaction. Although these events will be hosted in underground and sometimes strange environments, these spaces will be extremely cozy, transplanting your living room into unfamiliar industrial locations.
Why do we need your help? We are aiming to raise $8,250 to fuel the first show in this series. To create āUnreleasedā in line with our core values of uplifting the communities around us, The Cherry Pit cannot ask musicians and artists to perform for low pay. Unfortunately, creating shows at the level of quality we are proud of, while sustainably compensating artists, is not feasible with ticket sales alone. That is why we are looking to you for support. The money you donate will go towards paying the artists, musicians, performers, and Cherry Pit team to make Unreleased possible.
(All funds go to The Cherry Pit, Springboard For The Arts is our non-profit Fiscal Sponsor)
$8,250 covers just the funds needed to make this event sustainable. If you are interested in supporting The Cherry Pit in a more substantial or longer term capacity, please contact us.
