Nancy and Jenny Fundraise for Secondhand Hounds

Lately, rescue has been hard. The influx of fosters and adopters during the pandemic has subsided and left a trail of homeless dogs and cats in its wake. Three years ago, there would have been dozens of people begging to foster a single mutt puppy - now identical puppies are left needing fosters for days and sometimes weeks on end.

But dogs like Chickadee haven't gone away.

If anything, the need has grown.

Rescue has been hard.

We know not everyone can foster or adopt. We never want to guilt people into doing something they are not prepared for, physically or emotionally. Instead, we want to offer alternative ways to save an animal like Chickadee - which is where our annual 5K9 comes in!

The beauty of this fundraiser is that every single one of you can participate... and here are the ways!

If every single person reading this does one (or more!) or these 4 things, we will be able to save SO MANY LIVES. We will never have to say no to animals like Chickadee, who was found shivering on a pile of trash, malnourished and dehydrated. She is now gaining weight in a loving foster home, learning to be loved. Every animal deserves it - and you can help us make that happen.

Our expenses are higher than they have ever been. We have been expanding our social services, taking in animals who need more medical care than ever, and distributing tens of thousands pounds of dog and cat food every month. We can do all of this because of our community. Because of you.
