AREAA Twin Cities Fundraiser for AWUM

In honor of May's Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, our organization Asian Real Estate Association of America-Twin Cities Chapter (AREAA TC) would like to host our second year of fundraising for the Asian Women United of Minnesota (AWUM).  Last year in 2020 despite of the pandemic our organization was able to help raise over $2,500  for AWUM because of compassionate donors. Thank you for hearing the voices of women and children who have been hurt through domestic violence and need the emotional support and shelter.  However, this mission continues for AWUM and they will need all the help and ongoing support they can get. 

AWUM’s mission is to end domestic violence by promoting safe and healthy relationships within the Asian Pacific Islander community.

House of Peace, Asian Women United of Minnesota's 24-hour emergency shelter, is in its 20th year of operation and has provided shelter to over 100 individuals per year since opening (2,000+ people.)  In recent years, the shelter has housed an average of 125-150 individuals annually.  

AWUM’s community-based advocates typically reach 750-1,000 people each year from sites around St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Any donation that you can make will help go towards the below items for the House of Peace shelter: 

 $10 = provides 1 woman with shampoo, conditioner & body wash for 2 months

 $25 = funds art supplies for programming for shelter children for 3 months

 $50 = supports 1 woman to go to court with an advocate

 $100 = purchases 1 month of rice for shelter residents to have warm meals

 $250 = provides 10 weeks’ worth of milk for shelter residents, especially children

 $500 = allows participants to take public transportation to go to school, job interviews,

work, find housing (for 1 year)

 $1,500 = funds 2 months of language interpretation
