Southside Harm Reduction Services has been serving vulnerable populations since 2018 and we continue to do that during the coronavirus pandemic. Over the last few weeks, we have expanded our outreach services and are handing out hand sanitizer, cloth facemasks, and snacks in addition to safe use and overdose prevention supplies.

Many of our participants are at higher risk for coronavirus due to lack of hygiene facilities and they are more likely to fall through the typical social safety nets. Additionally, coronavirus is not the only outbreak affecting the community of people we serve. There are currently Hep A, Hep C, and HIV outbreaks in Minnesota, and safe use kits and hand sanitizer are extremely important to decrease the spread of these infections.

We are a volunteer-run non-profit mostly funded by individual donations and grants. Due to social distancing, we are unable to host normal fundraising activities, so we need your help now more than ever!

Thank you so much for your past and continued support! We could not do the work we do without it. In addition to cash donations, we are also seeking donations of hygiene equipment, masks, non-perishable foods,
and lightly used camping/outdoor gear (tents, cooking utensils, tarps). If you would like to make a material donation please contact sarah.mering@southsideharmreduction.org We also understand how deeply this
pandemic is affecting our communities and we
appreciate the many different ways to offer support; whether through service, donation,
or by simply taking care of yourself and those around you.

Each donation we receive during GiveMN's #GiveAtHomeMN campaign from May 1 - 8 gives SHRS a chance to win bonus grants ranging from $250 - $2500!
