America needs nurses, and our region just gained a new one, thanks in part to Minnesota Africans United (MAU). A scholarship from MAU helped Favour, an immigrant from Nigeria, complete her nursing degree at Moorhead State University. She already has been hired to join a medical surgery unit beginning this fall! Prior to qualifying for the MAU scholarship, Favour worked multiple jobs to cover living expenses and care for her ill father. MAU’s scholarship enabled her to go beyond her community college associate’s degree and complete her 4-year nursing degree. With Minnesota’s aging population and a growing need for healthcare professionals, Favour is a welcome addition to our region!

By donating to Minnesota Africans United on Give to the Max Day, you can help us increase our scholarships by 10%. It’s part of our initiative to build the region’s workforce by leveraging the skills and talents of African-born Minnesotans.
