MAMA BEAR: Creatively Feeding Community Members

! ! NEW COMMUNITY HUB RESTAURANT & TRAINING PROGRAM ! ! ! We are launching "Mama Bear," a unique restaurant space serving as a training program for people in transformative recovery from homelessness, incarceration and substance abuse to prepare meals for extremely disinvested community members, many of whom are close friends and loved ones.

After delivering nearly 50,000 meals, we are now partnering with 2nd Harvest and their fantastic Kitchen Coalition program to rent a tiny restaurant, start a food training program and PREPARE community meals. We will learn learn lifelong skills of professional cooking and food service taught by a professional chef while making 1,000 community meals a week!

The Real Minneapolis is a small grassroots organization cultivating hope, health in healing to those that need it the most. We thoughtfully listen to community members and respond to community needs such as youth mental health and education during the pandemic, street outreach to provide essential needs (food, water, new clothing, Narcan, etc.), community-building volunteer and service projects and so much more.

The collective lived experience of our team including homelessness, substance abuse, incarceration and scarcity enables us to better serve our disinvested community members. They trust us. And trust is everything on the streets. We serve as a conduit to access resources of wealth and abundance, then transfer them to those that need them the most.
