Ella Baker Inclusive Playground Leaders have been getting out into community sharing enthusiasm and knowledge about inclusive playgrounds and raising funds for the double oodle swings.  They raised $650 at the uptown farmers market on July 17th.

Come ask them about inclusive playgrounds (and donate) at the uptown farmer's market on August 21th and September 25!  They will also be selling chips, takis, and soda at reimagine on the north side August 9, 11-5 (this was cancelled due to weather) and Open Streets Broadway on September 6th.

Thanks so much for your support!

Students at Ella Baker School are leading an exciting project to create a more inclusive, accessible playground for everyone in the community. Supported by Minneapolis Public Schools, they are collaborating with physical therapists, parents of students in special education, community partners, and peers, to help shape a space that reflects diverse needs and visions. The design includes community art, a sensory garden, and environmental education features—drawing on student ideas, community survey input, and inspiration from national models of inclusive play.

While funding is limited, every donation will directly support purchasing the new playground equipment that the students have selected in their design process.

In fact, the students' #1 choice of playground equipment is the Oodle Swing Set! That sets our goal at $21,000. With your help, we know we can get there!

Together, we are building a playground that welcomes all children and reflects the creativity and leadership of Ella Baker students.

Join us in making play accessible for everyone — support the Inclusive Playground Project today!

In April 2025, Concept A was chosen as the favorite between the two playground designs.
