INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MINISTRY

We invite you to join our team by supporting our International Student Ministry (ISM) outreach of Stadium Village Church.  In 2020-2021 due to the pandemic we in partnership with another International Organization have provided volunteers, classes, programs and activities and allowed the use of our facilities as needed over the years to welcome and assist International Students, Scholars and their Families primarily in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) to adjust to life in America and  Minnesota!  We had a thriving spouses and family ministry helping to teach driving, registering accompanying children in schools, providing tours of our cities, assisting with adjustment to our American culture and the cold winters as well as teaching classes in English, Pronunciation, Art, Quilting, seminars on various topics and when interested classes about knowing God in the Bible.

 When the pandemic forced all classes in person to close down, by the inspiration of an International Student couple and with the help of a Facebook page, we instituted a worldwide online English teaching ministry reaching students in Taiwan, China, Romania, Myanmar, Ukraine, Denmark, Haiti, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Brazil, Mongolia, Indonesia, and a country in the Middle East along with students from the US such as Nebraska, CA, Texas, Oregon. Almost 20 volunteer teachers are engaged in teaching small ESL classes and/or 1-2-1 Conversation that enable students to have a greater opportunity to learn and practice English skills in Grammar, Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Listening, Reading and Discussion.  Students are learning intercultural and interpersonal communication skills as they mix with students and teachers from other cultures, races and religions.  

Our Volunteers are Christians located in various parts of the USA who are able to share the love of God and the Bible in their classes, while respecting the beliefs of the students.  Through these classes we are able to share the love of Christ, and in several classes explore Christian Faith more deeply with students who never met a Christian or who have various religious beliefs. Many International students attend our church out of curiosity are embraced with love in fellowship and become more curious about what makes us different and desire to explore faith through our Bible Study and some who are Christians attend classes to grow in their faith and obedience to God. The Fellowship of love they receive builds them up and prepares them for challenges to their Christian Faith as they navigate personal and family life and pursue their studies and professional endeavors here and upon their return home!
