Please Consider a Donation to the New Brighton Area Historical Society

Please consider a 100% tax-deductible donation of $50, $100, $250, (or any amount is welcome), to the New Brighton Area Historical Society in Long Lake Park in New Brighton, MN. This will help keep our doors open to share our local history free to all. We currently have a matching grant from an anonymous donor of up to $2000.

The bottom line is that our facility is now in need of some extensive maintenance work; this includes the refinishing and staining of the large perimeter deck surrounding the entire depot structure, and the repainting of the exteriors of both our depot building and caboose.  The estimated cost for this is $10,000. (This assumes a portion of the work will be done by our ten-member Board of Directors.)

As an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, the New Brighton Area Historical Society maintains its 1887 Soo Line Depot and an accompanying 1950 Great Northern Caboose at the New Brighton History Center. Our 1887 depot has been meticulously restored to its 19th century authenticity; our Board is committed to its preservation as an irreplaceable local treasure.

Our yearly expenses also include a security system, insurance, utilities, propane, etc.  It should be noted that our organization receives no direct financial support from either the city or county.  We rely exclusively on fund-raisers (such as our annual “Rhubarb Festival”) and from individual and community organizations.

This is why we ask you to donate to the New Brighton Area Historical Society.
