At NeDA, we are building equity where it matters most—in homes, in families, and in neighborhoods. For nearly four decades, we have empowered historically marginalized communities across Minnesota with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to achieve financial stability and sustainable homeownership.

Homeownership Counseling & Education

Our tailored counseling and group education guide families of color through every step of homeownership—from credit and budgeting to mortgages—helping them move forward with confidence. Your gift fuels these journeys and strengthens communities.

NeDA Centro de Finanzas

Our certified CDFI provides credit-builder loans, down payment assistance, and home improvement loans. NeDA has issued over 500 credit-builder loans totaling $79,320, with a 0.01% default rate, combining financial expertise with community trust.

Financial Counseling & Education

We elevate financial literacy in the community, helping individuals set goals, reduce debt, improve credit, and build long-term financial wellness through coaching and workshops.

Development & Daycare

NeDA manages 204 rental units, including Stryker Senior Housing (57 affordable senior units). We also provide space for daycare services for 75+ Somali children, allowing parents to pursue employment and economic opportunity. Together, these programs create a continuum of support from stable renting to sustainable homeownership.

Changing the Odds: Measurable Impact

In the past three and a half years, NeDA has:

• Counseled 2,170 households individually, 655 via group education
• Enabled 159 first-time homebuyers to purchase homes averaging $267,000, with 90% of clients receiving Down Payment Assistance.
• Generated $42.2 million in community investment, strengthening neighborhoods and narrowing the racial homeownership gap

• Financial Coaching: 193 individuals improve their budgeting skills, credit scores, and financial behavior
• Debt Repayment Assistance: $302,158 repaid by 18 individuals
• FAIM Matched Savings: 15 participants leveraged $60,000
• Credit Builder Loans: 68 loans totaling $13,800
• Home Repair & Energy Loans: $200,000 deployed
• Commercial Rehab Loans: $43,758 awarded
• Down Payment Assistance: $180,000 awarded
