We need to upgrade our elevator! Help keep the meetinghouse accessible to everyone.

$7,000 goal

Elevators have a life expectancy of 20-25 years, and ours is 32 years old, obsolete, and the company out of business.

In early 2021, we learned that the legal standard for door-locking might soon change, which meant we would have to make an expensive upgrade. Not long after that, the elevator had two separate electrical failures, and the Building and Grounds Committee placed the elevator out of service. After asking for proposals from repair companies, we have signed a contract with Otis Elevators.

The total cost of this work will be about $111,000. TCFM plans to cover part of this from our reserves and with loans from individual Friends. The more we can raise in donations, the better we can pay for this work while maintaining a prudent balance in our reserves.

The elevator provides a connection from the street level to the fellowship room, where potlucks, Friends Forum, and fellowship occur. A working elevator will help us make this space accessible to all once again and welcome the community back to the meetinghouse.
