Hello friends!!
When COVID-19 hit, we like many organizations were ill prepared. We didn't have any kind of contingency in place and ended up closing our doors from March 17th - August 3rd. I mean don't get me wrong, we worked really hard in those months to develop a distance learning plan for the school, identify and develop written policy and procedure, implement health and safety standards, and so much more. Our goal upon reopening in August was to be able to continue to offer care and quality education in person, regardless of what the school districts are doing, so long as we can safely do so. One thing that will help with the overall health and safety in the building is if we install an air exchanger and filtration system with a germicidal and virus filtration system. We have in ground heat and wall units for air conditioning. Up until now we have relied on open doors and windows along with fans to help ventilate the school, and now with Winter upon us, that is no longer an option. As a school we are hoping to fundraise half and have the school invest the other half. Our goal this year is to fundraise $8,000 towards this goal. So far we have $2,875 in matching dollars from the Granite City Lumberjacks, and an anonymous donor.
