Eligibility for Organization Participation in Give to the Max Day

Any nonprofit or school that uses GiveMN.org for online fundraising is automatically a participant in Give to the Max Day. Give to the Max Day is an annual celebration of generosity and every organization is able to participate in some way. Below are the guidelines set forth by GiveMN for organization eligibility to receive Give to the Max Day prizes, and other guidelines for Give to the Max Day participation.

Special Eligibility for Registered Organization Prize Pool 

($500 Golden Tickets every 15 minutes, $6,000 Power Hours)

Only causes that meet the Basic Eligibility outlined below and who have completed the Give to the Max Day registration process by 12:00 p.m. (noon) CT on November 13, 2019, are eligible for the $500 Golden Tickets every 15 minutes and $6,000 Power Hours. Organizations who successfully complete the registration process by the deadline are also automatically eligible for all other Give to the Max Day prizes.

Only donations made through GiveMN.org qualify for inclusion in all prize drawings.

All groups that are fiscally-sponsored by a nonprofit organizations will be eligible for the Registered Organization Prize Pool once the organization which sponsors them has completed the Give to the Max Day registration process.


Basic Eligibility for all other Give to the Max Day Prizes

(Hourly Golden Tickets, Super-Sized Golden Ticket, Early Giving Golden Tickets)

If your organization has successfully completed the Give to the Max Day registration process to be eligible for the Registered Organization Prize Pool, you are also eligible for all other Give to the Max Day prizes.

Only donations made through GiveMN.org qualify for inclusion in all prize drawings.

Only Minnesota-based causes are included in Hourly, Super-Sized and Early Giving Golden Tickets. The geographic headquarters for an organization is determined by the state of the legal disbursement address on file with GiveMN, viewed and managed through the Settings section of your organization's GiveMN administrative area. All requests for updates to an organization's legal address must be received by 12:00 p.m. (noon) CT on November 13, 2019, to ensure inclusion in the Hourly Golden Ticket and Super-Sized Golden Ticket prize pools. To ensure inclusion for all Early Giving Golden Tickets, requests must be made by 11:59 p.m. CT on October 31, 2019.

Donations made to groups that are fiscally-sponsored by a nonprofit organization will be eligible with all donations made to the registered nonprofit and that registered nonprofit will be included in the Golden Ticket prize pool according to prize pool eligibility.


Participation

Any individual or institution may make a donation on Give to the Max Day. Donations made through GiveMN.org advised to nonprofits and registered public schools and charter schools are tax deductible to the extent allowed and are irrevocable. Donations will not be refunded per GiveMN’s Terms of Use. Donation forms provided through GiveMN.org accept transactions made with credit and debit cards supported by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Donors may also choose to work with their favorite organizations to make gifts of appreciated assets or from a donor advised fund.


Eligibility to Receive Donations and Give to the Max Day Prizes

Nonprofit organizations and registered public schools and charter schools listed on GiveMN.org are eligible to receive donations. Only Minnesota-based organizations are eligible for Give to the Max Day prizes. Additionally, only Minnesota-based organizations who have successfully completed the Give to the Max Day registration process are eligible for the Registered Organization Prize Pool.

Organizations that provide services in Minnesota but are registered with the IRS in another state may receive donations through GiveMN.org but are not eligible for Give to the Max Day prize grants.

Nonprofit organizations must be public charities registered under IRS Subsection 509(a)(1), 509(a)(2), 509(a)(3) or 509(a)(4) of the 501(c)(3) section or a private operating foundation to be eligible for prize grants made by GiveMN.

Nonprofits and schools are eligible to receive more than one prize grant if they are randomly selected more than once. There is no cap on the amount of prizes organizations may win.


Prize Grant Disbursements

All Give to the Max Day prize grant winners are subject to review and approval by the GiveMN board of directors. All prize grant recipients are subject to verification and completion of a grant acceptance letter before grants are awarded.

Prize grants will be disbursed no later than December 31, 2019, using the disbursement method established for each organization through the GiveMN administrative area.


Matching Gifts

Organizations are responsible for securing and offering their own matching funds. GiveMN does not provide matching dollars on Give to the Max Day. Matching gifts raised by organizations can be promoted on GiveMN.org year-round and many organizations use them for special Give to the Max Day promotions.


Early Giving

Effective November 1, 2019, at 12:00 a.m. CT, donors may complete their gifts through GiveMN.org to count toward Give to the Max Day. Early gifts will be transacted at the time the gift is made by the donor.

Early gifts will be counted toward Give to the Max Day prize incentives and giving day totals.


Minimum Donation

The year-round minimum donation on GiveMN.org is $5.00 and it is the same on Give to the Max Day. There is no maximum donation.


Fees

GiveMN is excited to provide a feature that allows donors to pitch in just a little bit more! When donors make a gift through GiveMN.org, they may choose to pay the 6.9% processing fee on behalf of an organization, ensuring that 100% of their donation goes directly to that cause! 

This option is available year-round and on Give to the Max Day. GiveMN does not charge any sign-up or subscription fees to participate in Give to the Max Day.
