Project for Southwest Initiative Foundation

An affiliate of the Southwest Initiative Foundation, the Worthington Area Foundation benefits the Worthington area in Minnesota.

Mission Statement
To promote charitable giving by assisting donors in the establishment of funds and memorials, which will provide lasting benefits to the Worthington community.

Grant total since inception (including grants made for operating expenses): $55,119

Fiscal Year 2016 Grantmaking  
Awarded grants totaling
$10,780, including:

American Legion Argonne Post #32 to purchase supplies for camping outings

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) to purchase uniforms, badges and boots for CAP cadets going through the program

Friends of the Auditorium, Inc.to:

  • create a new costume and prop room that is organized for more convenient use of items by the community
  • purchase 20 music stands and two storage racks for those stands

Historic Worthington, Inc.to replace the linens in the guest suites at Historic Dayton

Kids-R-It Incorporated to renovate the cafeteria ceiling and walls and install all stainless steel surfaces and shelving

Mana Food Pantry, Inc.to defray the electrical portion of installing a ‘walk-in’ freezer to replace 7 standard freezers

Nobles County Historical Society, Inc.to purchase archival storage materials for the society’s historic doll collection

Nobles County Integration Collaborative to support the partnership of Nobles County Integration Collaborative and Youth Frontiers to bring all 9th graders to member districts to participate in a one-day retreat

Project Morning Star to develop, manufacture and sell a product line; all naturally made in Worthington by clientele

VFW Pacholl/Moser Post 2603 to install a new roof on the building used as a post home and community activity center

Worthington Community Education - Dist 518 toward the costs of the “Celebration of the Young Musician Festival” held biannually at Prairie Elementary and toward the costs of clinicians to help in the training
