Hutchinson Area Community Foundation Endowment Fund
Project for Southwest Initiative Foundation

An affiliate of the Southwest Initiative Foundation, the Hutchinson Area Community Foundation benefits the Hutchinson area in Minnesota.

Mission Statement

A tax exempt, nonprofit, philanthropic organization that consists primarily of permanent and special funds from many donors which are given for long-term, diverse charitable benefit of the Hutchinson area.

Grant total since inception (including grants made for operating expenses): $371,373 

Fiscal Year 2016 Grantmaking  

Awarded grants totaling $67,063, including:

City of Hutchinson for:

  • the Hutchinson Elks Inclusive Park, which will provide quality of life for disabled and fully functional children and adults in a safe, drug-free, nurturing environment
  • ongoing maintenance of the Law Enforcement Memorial Park
  • upgrades to the Press Box at the Veteran’s Memorial Baseball Field

Common Cup Ministry to provide food over the weekends and school breaks to students k-3rd that qualify for free lunch for school year 2015-2016

Crow River Drumline Association to replace damaged and inadequate equipment and purchase additional musical instruments including a new performance tarp and drum stands

Equul Access, Inc.to heat the indoor horse arena to provide year-round services

Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism to purchase a laminator, sail signs, banner signs, tent and portable speaker/microphone system

Hutchinson Area Community Foundation to support operations of the foundation

Hutchinson Center for the Arts to bring the group, ARTORG, to present a public steamroller printmaking event in conjunction with the opening reception for the annual Youth Art Exhibit in April 2016

Hutchinson Concert Association to provide a scholarship to a local high school senior that has chosen music as a part of his/her college curriculum and to hold a master class at the Hutchinson Middle School

Hutchinson Fastpitch Association to purchase a new indoor batting cage and safety screens

Hutchinson Health Foundation for the Hutchinson Elks Inclusive Park, which will provide quality of life for disabled and fully functional children and adults in a safe, drug-free, nurturing environment

Hutchinson Hockey Association to purchase equipment for the boys lacrosse team; including helmets and 1-2 lacrosse goals

Hutchinson Lions Club to purchase sound equipment (Flex Cats/Red Cats) for the Hutchinson High School and Middle School

ISD #423 - Hutchinson to:

  • provide newspapers to local teachers and students for educational purposes
  • purchase projectors for presentations and to fund consulting help to develop their speaking skills

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota to replace aging food service equipment

McLeod Alliance for Victims of Domestic Violence to generate a youth support group for children experiencing trauma as a result of domestic violence in their families

McLeod County Historical Society to provide the public with access to Ancestry.com Library edition via our Research Library on up to five workstations over the next five years, and to provide a series of educational programs

McLeod Emergency Food Shelf-Glencoe to rebrand the current food shelf image with a logo redesign and updated distribution site signage for both the Glencoe and Hutchinson locations
