YouthAssets connects southern African youth to mobile technology enabling them to build support networks and access other resources.

Our Mission

YouthAssets connects southern African youth, particularly those heading households, to mobile technology, enabling them to build support networks and access resources to create the future they choose for themselves, their communities, and their world.

YouthAssets has interviewed 50 Swazi youth who are heading households and selected 10 of them to serve as the YouthAssets Youth Advisory Board. We’ve formed a communication network around these youth through which they can support one another and also advise us on our programs.  The youth now routinely communicate with one another and us via email using their mobile phones.

The Youth Advisory Board was formed with the belief that the youth should drive the content and implementation of our programs. This founding principle has resulted in the Swaziland Peace Corps asking our youth to advise their volunteers working with vulnerable youth in rural areas. In return, the Peace Corps will provide the youth with training in goal setting and life skills, and will help them connect with resources to pursue their income generation goals. We are eager to see this relationship evolve over the coming year.

Please consider making a donation to YouthAssets so that we can continue to connect youth with the information and resources needed to build their futures!
