For more than fifty years, the residents of Saint Paul’s West Side have come together to stand up for what matters most—our homes, our people, our shared future.
What began as grassroots activism in the 1970s—fighting to keep our only neighborhood school open and our riverfront safe from the toxic harms of a metal shredder—has grown into a powerful movement for justice, equity, and community self-determination.
We are West Side Community Organization — WSCO. Proudly serving as the official District Council for Saint Paul’s District 3, we are a neighborhood organization that acts as the bridge between community voices and city decisions.
Our mission is bold and far-reaching: we organize the people of the West Side to build collective power and advance justice and racial equity for all people. We envision a just, united, and self-reliant West Side where everyone is connected, safe, healthy, and successful.
Through decades of organizing, WSCO has helped shape the future of our neighborhood – from the built environment to the social fabric of our community. We work with residents to imagine and create the neighborhood we envision and deserve.
We fight for environmental and racial justice.
We advocate for dignified and stable housing.
We nurture cultural and economic vitality.
We invest in our people, our governance, and our shared story.
AND SO MUCH MORE.
Because when we organize together — when we dream together — we create lasting, systemic change.
And we are not building alone.
WSCO is part of a generational struggle, carrying forward the dreams, labor, and love of those who came before us.
We are West Side Proud.
We are West Side Strong.
We are WSCO.
