World Learner School Parent Teacher Organization

WLS PTO Mission

The purpose of the WLS PTO is to enhance and support the educational experience of the children at The World Learner School by developing a stronger connection between the school and families.  It strives to encourage parent involvement and improve the environment by:

• Creating an inclusive and active community of families and teachers
• Developing a dedicated core of volunteers
• Implementing efficient and effective fundraising programs

Recent Achievements

• Meet and Greet - Hosted multiple events to welcome new and existing WLS families back to school
• Outdoor Spaces - Provided funding for backyard improvements and outdoor classroom learning environments
• Yearbook - All students recieved a yearbook at no charge
• Annual Garage Sale - Hosted our annual garage sale fundraiser, selling items donated by WLS families, while serving as the Jonathan Annual Garage Sale Festival Headquarters
• School Trips - Subsidized student transportation for trips to Deep Portage Learning Center and Chicago
• Shindig - Our biggest fundraiser of the year with dinner, games, and a silent and live auction of donated and handcrafted items
• Hooked on Books - Promoted WLS by running a musical "book walk" to distribute books donated by WLS families
• Fall Festival - Hosted a community-wide event featuring game and activity booths designed and run by our students
• Other School Needs - Funded new lockers for students and an electronic library catalog system
