$5,000 Goal

Wilson’s Image College Scholarship (WICS) aims to end financial barriers to college for African-American scholars from North Minneapolis. WICS provides scholarships to freshmen and sophomore college students  as a way to financially empower and assist them along the path of achieving their educational goals.

WICS was founded in 2018 by Teto Wilson, the owner of Wilson’s Image Barbers & Stylists, in Minneapolis. When the scholarship fund was featured on WCCO-TV news in January 2021, more than $70,000 was donated.

The scholarship fund has continued to grow, and WICS has awarded $150,000 since 2018!

In June 2025, WICS awarded $40,000 total, with $5,000 scholarships going to eight students who are pursuing careers in field like computer science and nurse midwifery. Several scholars are studying at HBCU's.

Speaking to BLCK Press after the award ceremony, Teto said: "Living and working in North Minneapolis gives me an opportunity to be in their lives, to learn and understand our youth's wants and needs. I want them to always be able to look back and think, 'When I was going to college, someone helped me.'"

Thank you to our scholars and their loved ones, our past and current donors, and the North Minneapolis community supporting our youth!
