With our goal to inspire and educate the public through play, we provide engaging, interactive STEAM learning and imaginative play through hands-on exhibits. While some exhibits are ongoing, others rotate out to offer an entirely new play experience for families when they return.
After Governor Walz announced the closure of many public and private spaces (which included Wheel and Cog) in the Spring of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we've since been able to safely reopen on a limited, paid reservation-only basis and continue to offer 2-hour private play time slots to members at a reduced rate, along with other activity offerings including free literary bag pick ups, free art kit bag pick ups, and some organized art in the park activities through the fall.
NEW! Exploring Letterland Activities and Celebrations is our latest and largest outreach to the Hutchinson community to make safe, fun learning experiences available to all children and their families. With the financial assistance from United Way of McLeod County and Minnesota’s Legacy Arts and Heritage Funding, Wheel & Cog is placing brightly colored letters featuring familiar animals and objects from A to Z (26 total) in public spaces throughout Hutchinson viewable from outside. To participate anyone can pick up a corresponding Letterland Passport available at the museum on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:30pm-6pm, the Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce and Hutchinson Public Library during open hours, or download/print from their website at https://wheelandcog.com/
This is a free activity that can be done anytime from a safe walking or driving distance, and families can watch the Wheel & Cog Facebook page for upcoming, additional engaging questions and activities around the letters which will be placed over a series of weeks through 2020.
Please consider a donation of any size to help us provide new, vibrant and fun interactive activities.
