The Walker Area Food Shelf's Mission is to assist individuals who are in need of food, striving to preserve dignity, extend respect and maintain confidentiality to all clients. Our goals include educating clients on other services they may be eligible to receive, promoting good nutrition by providing healthy food selections and developing interactions between clients, staff and volunteers.
This year in particular has been extremely difficult for the clients we serve in the Walker Area. There has been a significant increase in new families utilizing our food shelf due to financial strain caused by the pandemic. With this increase, comes a responsibility for our organization to purchase and store an increased amount of food. We have also had to make changes to our building to ensure safety for all and purchase supplies like PPE and cleaning products at an exponential rate over any other year. All of these changes have added to an increase in expenditures that were not planned or budgeted. We are hopeful that this campaign will help to offset some of those expenditures in the future.
Every dollar helps to ensure that no child, adult or senior citizen in our area has to go to bed hungry!
