Imagine never being able to visit the zoo, stroll through a museum or enjoy an ice cream social with friends. Not because you don't want to, but because you simply do not have the means to do it. This is the daily reality for many individuals living in group homes who face social and financial isolation. Government cuts have left little to no room for anything beyond basic care. Connection and community have become luxuries.

12 percent of people in our state live with a disability. That is 1 in 8 of us, yet 50% of parents and family advocates say their loved ones with disabilities are not included in the community. Adults with developmental disabilities often face a painful combination of financial hardship and social isolation. They also struggle to find meaningful work. These aren't just challenges; they are barriers to basic human rights. 

This isn't only about accessibility; this is about invisibility. Its people being excluded from the life everyone else takes for granted like community events, friendships and overall dignity. 

At the WCDAC, we believe in looking beyond disabilities to celebrate the abilities of every individual, we believe every person deserves to live a life full of purpose, where no one is left out when it comes to experiencing the world around them.

Every day, we empower our individuals through a wide variety of activities that focus on building life skills, job readiness, and social inclusion. The people we serve learn practical skills like cooking, gardening, and budgeting, while also engaging in creative and cultural experiences such as visiting fairs and rodeos, exploring art exhibits and learning about different cultures around the world. 

We are more than just a program; we are a community. We advocate fiercely for a more inclusive and understanding world; one that recognizes the value and potential in every person. We fight against stigma and social isolation, we create space for connection, joy, and opportunity.
