Established in 1978, the Virginia Area Historical Society collects and preserves photos, artifacts, and ephemera not only from within Virginia, but also from the surrounding area.

The goal of our museum is to ensure that the stories of the people who have lived and worked here are preserved.  The exhibits we create and the programs we present help to achieve that goal.  Visitors learn of the early days of Virginia:  Olcott Park, Bailey and Virginia & Rainy Lake lumber companies, early settlers, tourism, and much more!  Researchers have access to our large collection of photos, newspapers, books and documents by appointment.

Your donations help us to continue collecting and providing access to many of the historical items from the area.  Visit us on Fridays or Saturdays from 10:00 until 3:00.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization run by a board of directors. VAHS is an affiliate of the St. Louis County Historical Society.
