VEAP has been providing healthy food and critical resources to individuals and families in the South Hennepin County community for 50 years. Food pantry visits have now soared to all-time highs, and our state is on pace for its hungriest year in decades.

VEAP has been seeing pantry visits rise dramatically since spring 2023 when changes to emergency SNAP food benefits took effect.

Coupled with sky-high grocery prices, many local families are struggling with empty cupboards. Last year, Minnesota food pantries experienced 7.5 million visits— 2 million more than the record-setting year of 2022. VEAP alone served 200,000 people with food. With inflation, Feeding America now estimates the average cost of a single meal in Minnesota is $4.23. More than ever, we need your support.

VEAP has been feeling the intense pressures of this increased demand. We’re distributing nearly half a million pounds of food right now, every single month. That equates to over 400,000 individual meals for local families—every 30 days.

Without that assistance, the families who visit us all say the same thing: they would be going hungry, unable to afford groceries.
