The legal profession is, like many others, reckoning with disparities in opportunities and access, particularly for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) individuals. UPLIFT tackles this issue at its roots by empowering diverse middle school students to get hands on experience and prep for law school, study, and practice. By introducing these students to the legal system and fostering connections with volunteer attorneys, UPLIFT not only addresses the opportunity gap but actively works to reshape the landscape, creating a pathway for future BIPOC attorneys.

Support future attorneys with a gift to UPLIFT today

UPLIFT Legal Institute for Teens is a pipeline program serving middle school students who reflect the rich diversity of the Twin Cities. But UPLIFT is not just a program; it's a catalyst for change. We empower eighth graders from varied backgrounds through our dynamic after-school mock trial program. Here, they delve into the world of law, gaining insights into the legal profession, criminal justice, and the court system. Our mission is to foster confidence, analytical and speaking skills, and a long-term vision for academic excellence in high school.

How Your Support Makes an Impact:

1. Engaging Opportunities for BIPOC Youth: Your contribution provides engaging opportunities for BIPOC youth, offering them a unique chance to learn from volunteer attorneys about the legal profession. Through UPLIFT, we're creating pathways for these young minds to envision brighter futures.

2. Collaboration with Law Students, Lawyers, and Judges: UPLIFT isn't just a program; it's a community. Your support enables us to bring law students, lawyers, and judges together with our students, and with each other, creating a collaborative environment where knowledge and mentorship flourish.

3. Volunteer Opportunities for Law Students and Lawyers: Your generosity fuels volunteer opportunities for law students and lawyers, allowing them to give back and make a lasting impact. Together, we're building a supportive network that extends beyond the classroom.

4. Strengthening Family and Community Ties: UPLIFT is not just about students; it's about families and communities. By supporting us, you contribute to initiatives that engage parents and communities, fostering a holistic approach to empowerment.

5. Direct Support for Students: Funds raised directly benefit students by providing essential resources such as materials, clothing, and snacks. Additionally, your support helps cover logistical expenses, ensuring a seamless and impactful program for every participant.
