unCommon Construction (uCC) empowers youth with the skills, network, resources, and experience to lead the workforce.

This is unCommon Construction's third official school year in Minneapolis and we're so grateful for your support as we build a strong community and foundation to sustain our work! 

Since launching our high school apprenticeship program in Minnesota, we've partnered with 5 local high schools and hired more than 40 of their students who have collectively earned more than $40,000 in pay and Equity Award Scholarships. Through unCommon’s apprenticeship program, students from different schools apply to join a diverse team, earning hourly pay and school credit as they complete construction projects for real clients. The revenue from each project is used to match apprentice earnings with an “Equity Award” scholarship for further education, industry certifications, or the tools needed for a full-time job. With more than 70 hours of work-based learning experience per "sprint", apprentices develop skills and relationships that last as long as the projects they finish. unCommon Apprentices graduate on time, perform better in their academic classes, and are more likely to continue their education or obtain and maintain employment after high school.
