Twin Cities Blind Sailing is a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals of all ages with visual impairments to experience the freedom and adventure of sailing. We welcome participants of all skill levels and offer opportunities for cruising, racing, and solo sailing across the Twin Cities. We also offer the first-ever youth camps for racing and cruising that inspire the next generation of sailors.
Cruising on Bde Maka Ska, partnered with the Minneapolis Sailing Center. |
Cruising sailing is a leisurely form of sailing where sailors explore and enjoy time spent on the water at their own pace. |
Racing on Lake Minnetonka, partnered with Wayzata Sailing. |
Racing is a competitive form of sailing where sailors navigate courses with the goal of finishing first, demonstrating skill, strategy, and speed. |
Solo Sailing on Lake Harriet, partnered with the Lake Harriet Yacht Club |
Solo sailing in the Mini Illusion boats requires intermediate sailing skills, with a sighted guide nearby in another boat ready to offer aid. |
Youth Camps partnered with the Minneapolis Sailing Center |
2 weeks a summer (one week each session) on Bde Maka Ska. Blind and Low Vision youth sail alongside sighted youth as they learn how to work together as a team. |
Twin Cities Blind Sailing hosted the first ever week long Blind and Low vision youth camp with our partners at MSC. |
Our mission is to build a supportive community where people of all abilities can connect, grow, and thrive through shared experiences on the water. At Twin Cities Blind Sailing, we believe everyone has the power to steer their course and embrace the joy of sailing.
Your Donations Make a Difference
Your generous donations to Twin Cities Blind Sailing will directly support blind and low vision individuals in several impactful ways. Transportation: Your contributions will help provide essential transportation for participants, ensuring they can attend sailing events. Regattas: Donations will fund regattas, equipping them with audible buoys to enhance navigation for all sailors. Sponsorships: Financial support will offer sponsorships to aspiring racers, allowing them to compete and thrive in the sport. |
Together, we can create more opportunities for blind and low vision sailors to enjoy and excel in sailing. Thank you for your invaluable support!
