Programs

The purpose and mission of the all-volunteer Minnesota Streetcar Museum is to preserve and communicate to the public the experience of Minnesota's electric street and interurban railway history. To accomplish this mission the Museum operates historic Minnesota streetcars at two demonstration railways at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis and Excelsior, Minnesota. The Museum also publishes a quarterly history magazine and a newsletter for its members.

2021 Goals

In 2021, are capital campaign goals are to:

  1. Rebuild the 3rd and 4th motors as part of the restoration of 1907 Twin Cities streetcar 1239, cost $50,000. This is part of of a multi-year mechanical rehabilitation of this over 100 year old streetcar.
  2. Pave the Excelsior carbarn and realign Track 3, cost $25,000. This is necessary for us to be able to fit all of our streetcars inside the barn.
