SUPPORTING IMMIGRANTS IN THE BAY AREA

TIGRA works with immigrant families to better their economic futures and better their communities. Economic Citizenship engages immigrants to think about their spending and saving and how these interactions can better the communities they live and work in. TIGRA works particularly with recently arrived Filipinos, undocumented youth and their families, and refugee youth from Central America. Though these communities may seem disconnected, they have all come to the US in search of opportunity, safety and financial stability.

In partnership with socially responsible companies, TIGRA supports these communities by tailoring financial services and education to meet their needs while engaging them in workshops, coaching and mentorship to make sure that they succeed.

Maura Villanueva, a resident of San Jose and student of San Francisco State University said of why she wanted to volunteer for TIGRA's Economic Citizenship program as a mentor, "As an undocumented student, I wish someone would have been there to help me, or at least cheer me on."

Genesy Hernandez, a current student of UC Berkeley and a mentor to Central American youth, says " I feel like in my experience, the most influential people who helped me envision a better future for myself, were people who volunteered to enter my life as a mentor. I want to pass that on to others to help them succeed."

Every dollar that you donate will go directly to help sustain TIGRA's work within immigrant communties and expand our reach to other parts of the Bay Area. Thank you!
