Our mission

The mission of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra is to sustain a world-class chamber orchestra at the highest standards of artistic excellence that enriches the Twin Cities community by sharing dynamic, distinctive and engaging performances. We are actively committed to accessibility and intentional inclusivity in all aspects of our work and continually strive to provide all people in our community with opportunities to connect with the music we perform.

Community support powers the SPCO

Our community is essential to the SPCO’s music-making. After all, performances are not complete without an audience to receive them – nor can we make and share music without audience support! Donations from audience members are our largest and most reliable source of income and allows us to share music with our community at the most affordable ticket prices of any professional orchestra in the United States.

With community support, the SPCO is sharing distinctive musical experiences with a record number of people. We are thrilled to share an inspiring season of music, bringing concerts to 15 venues across the Twin Cities. Also, we look forward to sharing this exciting season with the broadest possible audience through livestreams and on-demand concert videos in our free online Concert Library.

It is your support that allows the SPCO to maintain the most affordable ticket prices of any professional orchestra in the United States, including free tickets for children and students.

Gratitude from the SPCO community

We receive messages from audience members sharing the impact of music in our community. In gratitude for your important role in making the SPCO possible, we’re sharing just a few of these messages here.

My 1-year old granddaughter and I were watching Jeremy Denk play the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue (she likes Bach and Mozart), and she slid down from my lap and crawled over to my piano and started hitting the keys! …I thought the immediate response to his playing was amazing! She may end up a virtuoso herself.

"I love you all! Thank you for bringing music into our home. We are immunocompromised and cannot go out. So, thanks!

—SPCO audience members

The SPCO community means so much to me. Their energies, time and resources could go anywhere, but instead they’re focused on the SPCO. It’s hugely inspiring.” —Zachary Cohen, Principal Bass
