Justice for all is a right, not a privilege. Legal Aid is critical to ensuring that right. We provide free civil legal representation to Minnesotans who lack access to the justice system. Our work focuses on people with low incomes, seniors and people with disabilities.

In the areas we serve, rent has increased up to 16% over the last two years. This rise in housing costs makes it incredibly difficult for low-income families to find and stay in affordable, safe, and stable housing. When families are forced out through discriminatory evictions, it not only upends their lives, but an eviction record and rising rents make finding an affordable place to live nearly impossible.

We’re proud of the work we’ve been able to do to fight housing discrimination, access to health care, and so many other issues that disproportionately impact families of color and people with disabilities. However, we must turn away too many of our neighbors. We don’t want to. This is where you can help.

Your donation supports:

  • Access to affordable housing, free from discrimination;
  • Someone receiving life-saving access to health care;
  • Livable and safe housing for families, free of mold and other harmful chemicals; and
  • Independent living for a person with disabilities.

Last year, we deployed new justice buses and worked with our community partners to bring legal kiosks to Minnesotans right in their communities. Despite Legal Aid’s success, there is much more work to do, and we need your help.

As we have done for over 100 years, we are making a difference in the communities we serve, but the fight for equal justice needs every one of us. Join us in the fight for stable housing, safety from abuse, access to food and affordable health care, and caring for seniors and people with disabilities in our community. Your gift is more important than ever. Every gift makes a difference.

We serve 20 counties in Minnesota from our offices in Minneapolis, St. Cloud and Willmar, and serve people with disabilities statewide.
