Help Theatre Novi Most bridge a critical funding gap to keep our budget balanced and sustainable for GiveMN 2025!

Novi Most—a Twin Cities–based theatre with a national profile and an international aesthetic—traffics in theatrical experiences that bridge artistic and cultural barriers. At this moment of widespread division—when “uncertainty” is a common euphemism for a perilously divided economic, political, and social landscape—bridges are crucial.

In early 2025, our first National Endowment for the Arts grant was withdrawn as part of the current administration’s desire to control arts and culture in the U.S. and its disdain for diverse perspectives. The loss of that $10,000 grant toward the world premiere of An Ocean Away creates a tangible financial hardship for our working artists—and, even more distressing, it illustrates the erosion of the arts and free speech in our country.

Your support for Novi Most is a meaningful act of resistance as we collectively navigate ongoing assaults against democracy, decency, and civility.

An Ocean Away—running October 30 to November 8—spotlights immigrant stories of the Ukrainian diaspora. Built on interviews with local Ukrainian immigrants and refugees of its war with Russia, the project was two years in the making.

Your tax-deductible donation goes a long way in our frugal budget. Please help us reach our goal: making up the $10,000 shortfall created by the cancellation of our NEA grant before the end of the calendar year. All amounts help—$25 to $2,500 or beyond.

As a society, we need theatre urgently. Its immediacy embodies and interrogates the human experience by putting the past and the present into sharp relief in ways the heart can actually hear.

Theatre Novi Most is based in Minneapolis, MN, where we produce vibrant theatre and film projects that build bridges between seemingly disparate histories and cultures.

ABOUT THE CURRENT PROJECT:

AN OCEAN AWAY, by Andrei Kureichik

It tells the stories of immigrants from the post-Soviet diaspora living in Minnesota who are watching the war in Ukraine from afar. Based on interviews, news media, and historical documents, Theatre Novi Most will work with playwright Andrei Kureichik, a team of actors, dramaturgs, and several Minnesota community members to create this new documentary play. Runs Oct 30-Nov 8. Tickets and info: https://www.theatrenovimost.org/an-ocean-away

Please consider helping us bring this important new season to fruition via your tax-deductible donation. Donations received on or before November 21 will be doubled by Theatre Novi Most leadership!

Last year, your support helped us:
- Revamp our
website
- Release our short film
The Girls at the Painted Bird, now traveling the film festival circuit
- Tour
The Ukrainian Words Project across Minnesota, gathering stories from our Ukrainian and post-Soviet community members

In 2025 you can help us continue the important work we do despite resistance from the U.S. Government.
