The Catholic Cemeteries

A nonprofit organization

The Catholic Cemeteries provides a wide range of faith-based burial options in the Twin Cities, offering personalized, end-of-life care, memorialization and expert experience in a time of profound grief and change.  The exquisite, peaceful beauty of our five cemetery properties reflect the depth of our Catholic mission to celebrate the lives of those lost while serving those who grieve. Our serene, lush grounds are expertly designed to foster closure, healing and renewal, all in a setting that is meticulously maintained, indefinitely, to the highest standards.

Our Catholic Cemeteries date back to 1856 and began with Calvary Cemetery, which had two different locations before finally settling in its current placement on Front Avenue. A year later St. Anthony’s Cemetery was established, first as a parish cemetery and then under the care of The Catholic Cemeteries. It was followed by St. Mary’s Cemetery in 1873. Then our two largest cemeteries were founded, Resurrection in 1940 and Gethsemane in 1961.

The Catholic Cemeteries provides a sacred resting place for all who believe in the Resurrection of the Lord, no matter what their economic status. Named in honor of Archbishop Harry J. Flynn in honor of his pastoral concern for human life, this fund allows us to:

  • Assist families where needed for burial services of a loved one
  • Assist with the burial of those without family and a means to cover their burial costs
  • Provide burial services on a quarterly basis for families who have lost children prior to birth through our Fetal Burial ministry

All donations to the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Compassionate Assistance Fund go directly to making a difference for families and their loved ones.
