Preserve the Minnesota Governor's Residence

The 1006 Summit Avenue Society is the non-profit member driven fundraising organization dedicated to preserving the grace and beauty of the Minnesota Governor’s Residence and creating community amongst members who share these values.

Founded in 1982 by former First Lady Gretchen Quie, the 1006 Summit Avenue Society has donated items to the Minnesota Governor’s Residence totaling more than three quarters of a million dollars. The Society has taken on projects ranging from new furnishings for public rooms, interpretive materials for tours, three best-selling books about the residence, pollinator gardens, and much more!

The stately Horace & Clotilde Irvine home at 1006 Summit Avenue was completed in 1912 and donated to the State of Minnesota for use as the 'Executive Mansion' by the family in 1965. It has since hosted twelve Governor's & their families.
