Mission

Tanzania Life Project (TLP), a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) since 2005, enhances the health andwell-being of rural Tanzanian communities by implementing sustainable, community-ledclean water and hygiene initiatives. With an all-volunteer U.S. staff, we focus onempowering women and girls while partnering with villages of 5,000+ people. We'vecompleted 20 projects serving over 100,000 people and are currently working in our 21stvillage, Bahi Makulu. Projects are completed sequentially, each taking ~12 months, depending on funding flow. Sustainability is key: for three years post-completion, weprovide training, connect communities with resources, and conduct annual monitoring andevaluation to guide continued success.

Our current project is in Bahi Makulu (pop. 8,880), our 21st village. We focus on buildingsustainable clean water infrastructure, WASH/MHM hygiene education, and empowermenttraining. Each project has five goals: 1) Improve health, quality of life, and livelihoodsthrough access to clean water; 2) Promote good hygiene practices to boost overall health;3) Empower women, men, and children to fostera more equitable and caring culture; 4)Give time back to girls and womenfor education and income-generating activities; and 5)Ensure project sustainability so communities maintain access to clean water for years tocome. We've successfully met these goals in our first 20 villages.
