Protecting Wildlife and Inspiring People

Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge is a breathtaking sanctuary where forests, wetlands, and wildlife thrive. The Friends of Tamarac NWR is the nonprofit partner that brings this amazing place to life for our community—supporting environmental education, events, volunteers, and hands-on experiences that connect kids and adults to nature.

Together, the Refuge and the Friends work side-by-side to protect wildlife, restore habitat, welcome visitors, and inspire a love of the natural world. From school field trips and summer programs to interpretive signs and guided hikes, this partnership ensures that Tamarac is not only protected, but shared and celebrated.

Thank you for helping Tamarac NWR.

"Enhancing Overlooks & Trails for Education and Reflection"

This GIVE MN, Friends of Tamarac is raising funds to add interpretive signage and benches at the Jim Marsh Overlook—one of the refuge’s most peaceful and educational spaces.

Your gift will help us share the inspiring story of the trumpeter swan, highlight wetland wildlife, and create a welcoming place for mindfulness, environmental education, and quiet reflection.
