At a time when more and more kids are disconnected from nature, the Friends of Tamarac recognized the importance of making a real investment in outdoor learning and environmental education.
How will the next generation care about the land and be stewards of its resources if they're detached from nature and don't have an opportunity to explore the natural world to learn, understand, and value it?
Every year, thousands of school children experience hands-on environmental learning when they visit the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge.
Through three seasons of fun, the students experience volunteer-led activities that all meet Minnesota education standards. The Friends of Tamarac provides opportunities for children to 'unplug' from busy, technology-filled lives and connect with nature.
