A brain injury can change a family’s life in an instant. A fall, bicycle crash, act of violence, or stroke can turn an ordinary day into a long, uncertain journey through hospital rooms, therapy appointments, and difficult decisions. Brain injury is one of the leading causes of death and disability among children, young adults, and adults in Minnesota, and 100,000 Minnesotans live with its lasting effects. About one in four adults with TBI cannot return to work a year after injury, leaving many families to face emotional strain and mounting bills at the same time.

That’s why TABI Oasis created the TABI Oasis Caregivers Count Emergency Fund. The fund steps in when families are frightened, exhausted, and unsure how they will manage the next trip to the hospital. Families receive $555 for food, gas, lodging, or childcare. Practical help that allows caregivers to stay close, children to feel cared for, and families to know they are not facing this alone.

During our Give to the Max campaign, every dollar raised will support the TABI Oasis Caregivers Count Emergency Fund, providing urgent assistance to families facing overwhelming costs after a loved one’s brain injury. One caregiver counted about 162 hospital trips, not including days with multiple visits or the five months her loved one later spent in transitional care. When someone you love is fighting to recover, financial hardship should not be what keeps you apart.

Through the TABI Oasis Caregivers Count Emergency Fund, each family receives $555 within 24–48 hours of the initial request to help with food, gas, lodging, or childcare.
