Morgan Tennis Courts are nestled within Minnehaha Creek Park, part of a regional system of parks in Minneapolis.  The courts are positioned within a prime location in Lynnhurst neighborhood in south Minneapolis.  The Morgan courts provide hours of tennis for neighborhood and community members, and also serve as the home courts for Washburn High School Boys' and Girls' teams.

Sadly, over the past few years, Morgan courts have fallen into serious disrepair.  Recreational tennis players, InnerCity Tennis programming and Washburn teams have stopped using the courts due to concern about the potential for injury.  The Washburn Boys' and Girls' Tennis teams, which currently roster over 90 students on no-cut teams, have been forced to relocate varsity practices to a Bloomington park, a 30 minute drive from Washburn High School.

The Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board has approved and secured partial funding to completely rebuild the courts. Because they don’t have the resources to fund the entire project, our nonprofit, ‘Support the Courts/Love Morgan Courts,’ is rallying community members and tennis aficionados to invest in our courts and in our community. Every dollar counts, let’s smash this out of the park!

Support the Courts Foundation is an all-volunteer non-profit organization engaged in a citywide effort to reconstruct and upgrade public tennis facilities in Minneapolis.

Working with city leaders, park officials, neighborhood organizations, corporations, the United States Tennis Association and hundreds of individual donors, we have reconstructed 25 tennis courts so far.

Minneapolis has a world-class park system, and tennis courts are a critical element of these parks. Public parks are part of the fabric of Minneapolis and contribute greatly to the quality of life in the city.

Tennis is an essential activity for kids in Minneapolis. The tennis courts are safe places to play. Tennis keeps kids out of trouble and helps them develop positive values and attitudes and healthy lifestyles. Kids playing tennis is an important antidote to crime and socio-economic disparities in the city.
