Since 1967, Students United serves as the powerful voice of 55,000 students across Minnesota’s seven state universities—fighting for their rights, resources, and future.
OUR PROGRAMS
Community Leader Fellowship
The Community Leader Fellowship is a year-long, cohort-based program that empowers students to lead with purpose.
Through hands-on internships and equity-centered training, fellows gain real-world experience, mentorship, and skills in advocacy, nonprofit leadership, and career pathways like policy advocacy, finance, and public relations.
Legislative Advocacy + Civic Engagement
Students United is the official voice of Minnesota State University students, leading the fight for a more affordable, accessible, and equitable higher education system.
Legislative Wins Include:
- Passage of the North Star Promise
- Passage of the MN Borrower Bill of Rights
- Preservation of Pell Grants
- Funding for campus food pantries
- Access to Naloxone on campus
- Menstrual equity initiatives across campuses
Each year, we empower students through two cornerstone events:
- Lobby Day – Students meet directly with lawmakers to share their stories and advocate for real change
- Advocacy Conference – A skills-building event where students learn how to lead, organize, and drive change on their campuses and beyond
Scholarships
Students United awards over $41k in scholarships to 20+ students each year, across Minnesota’s seven state universities. These scholarships open doors—from funding unpaid internships at the state and federal level to covering tuition, textbooks, and essential student needs.
